Sweet Bonanza Review
Sweet Bonanza is a candy and fruit slot from Pragmatic Play. 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on a 6×5 grid pay, and in free spins bombs with multipliers up to 100× can boost your wins.
About the game
Sweet Bonanza came before Gates of Olympus and uses the same basic idea: no paylines, wins anywhere, and tumbles after every win. The big difference is that there are no multipliers in the base game. They only show up in free spins.
The game rules call it medium volatility, so wins come a bit more often than in Gates of Olympus.
Sweet Bonanza Features
Tumbles
Winning symbols explode, the rest fall down and new symbols drop in. This goes on until there are no more wins, and then you get paid for the whole chain.
Free spins
4 or more lollipop scatters give you 10 free spins. The lollipops also pay on their own: 3× your bet for 4, 5× for 5 and 100× for 6. If 3 or more land during the round, you get 5 more spins.
Multiplier bombs
Bombs only appear in free spins. Each one is worth 2× to 100× and stays on the grid until the tumbles end. Then all bombs are added together and the win is multiplied by the total.
Unlike Gates of Olympus, nothing carries over to the next spin. Each spin starts fresh, and a bomb on a spin without a win gives nothing.
Double Chance and Buy Feature
Double Chance to Win raises your bet by 25% and doubles your chance to trigger free spins. Buy Feature takes you straight to the bonus for 100× your bet. You can only use one of these at a time.
Graphics
The game is set in a candy land with pink clouds, a pastel sky and sweets everywhere. The grid has a light, see-through frame. The high symbols are candies (a red heart, a purple square, a green pentagon and a blue oval), and the low ones are fruit: apple, plum, watermelon, grapes and banana.
How to play
Choose your bet (the demo starts at 0.20) and spin. 8 or more of the same symbol anywhere on the screen is a win. 4 lollipops start the free spins, or you can buy them.
Symbols and payouts
The red heart pays the most: 50× your bet for 12 or more. The banana pays the least. The table from the game:
| Symbol | 8–9 | 10–11 | 12+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red heart | 10× | 25× | 50× |
| Purple candy | 2.5× | 10× | 25× |
| Green candy | 2× | 5× | 15× |
| Blue candy | 1.5× | 2× | 12× |
| Apple | 1× | 1.5× | 10× |
| Plum | 0.8× | 1.2× | 8× |
| Watermelon | 0.5× | 1× | 5× |
| Grapes | 0.4× | 0.9× | 4× |
| Banana | 0.25× | 0.75× | 2× |
RTP, volatility and max win
The demo data shows two RTP values, 96.49% and 96.60%. The casino picks the setting, and the game info shows which one you're playing. Some versions also have progressive jackpots in the base game.
The start screen says you can win over 21,100× your bet. The rules call the game medium volatility, while the start screen shows a "low volatility" badge.
Other versions
Sweet Bonanza 1000 has bigger bombs and a higher max win. Sweet Bonanza Xmas is the Christmas version, and Sweet Bonanza Dice uses dice instead of fruit.
Sweet Bonanza Pros and Cons
Strengths
- Very easy to learn
- Calmer than Gates of Olympus
- Bombs up to 100× in free spins
- High max win on the start screen
Limitations
- No multipliers in the base game
- Bombs don't carry over between spins
- Two RTP settings exist
Our Verdict
Sweet Bonanza is a good pick if you want a pay-anywhere slot that isn't too harsh. The base game pays a bit more often, and the free spins with bombs are where the bigger wins are. If you want multipliers in every spin, try Gates of Olympus instead.
